Alfred Helm

Alfred H. Helm, 84, of Exeter Township, Reading, PA, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away unexpectedly August 28, 2013 in his home. He was the widower of Hannelore Helm (Kroemer) who passed away in 2010. Born in TA�rkenfeld, Germany, Mr. Helm was the son of Johann and Aloisie Schittenhelm. Survivors include 3 loving children: Walter W. Helm, husband of Diane Helm (Faeger), Exeter Township, Reading, PA; Heidi K. Laurent (Helm), wife of Eric Laurent, Clearwater, FL; and Ronald W. Helm, husband of Karen Helm (Brienza), Macungie, PA. He was dearly loved by his 6 surviving grandchildren: Kierstin L. Helm, Kyle E. Helm, Julia M. Laurent, Mallory R. Laurent, Ryan L. Helm, and Kayla S. Helm. Other survivors include brothers Hans Schittenhelm of Virginia, and Erhard Schittenhelm still residing in Germany. He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Schittenhelm. Mr. Helm was a devoted family man who retired from John Krauss Meat Packing after 30 years as a Butcher. Post retirement, he worked Security at Northrop Grumman for another 11 years.
