Betty Allend

Betty Elizabeth Allend, 81, formerly of Mohrsville, passed away February 18, 2011 in Berks County Home-Berks Heim. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Allend who passed away May 23, 1983. Born in Reading she was the daughter of the late Paul and Cora (Rogers) Dietrich. She was employed by Luden's as a machine operator for 27 years, retiring in 1994 and worked part time from 1995-1999 at Fecera's Furniture Store. Mrs. Allend is survived by her sons Thomas E. Allend of Laureldale and Gary L. Allend of Muhlenberg Township along with 5 grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter and 4 great grandchilren. Also surviving are her brothers Jesse Dietrich of Blandon and James Dietrich of Cumru Township. She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda M. (Allend) Young, August 31, 1994. Memorial Service will be held in Christ Lutheran Church 1301 Luzerne Street Reading Friday at 7:00 pm. Rev. Bruce G. Osterhout officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the familly. The family will receive friends at the church Friday 6-7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association 399 Market Street Suite 102 Philadelphia, PA 19106 in memory of Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Allend.
