Dale V. Budd, Sr., age 91, died April 19 at home in Elverson, PA, attended by family.
Dale was born in Pottstown, PA, the son of Floyd E. Budd of Battle Creek, MI, and Florence L. (Shick) Budd of Pughtown, PA. He graduated from Warwick High School in 1948 and entered the U.S. Navy, training at Naval Station Great Lakes and serving from Lakehurst, NJ. He served as an Aviation Electrician Petty Officer 2nd Class with Helicopter Utility Squad 2 from 1948 to 1952. He then worked at Bell Telephone of PA, later Verizon Communications, for 36 ½ years, retiring in 1989. Dale married Elsie M. (Hipple) Budd of Spring City, PA in 1951, residing on the Hipple farm until 1989, when they relocated to Berks County. Most recently, they lived in Elverson, Chester County, where they celebrated their 71st anniversary in March. Dale was a scout master with Boy Scouts of America; past president and treasurer of the Norco Optimist Club; and a lifetime member of the Pottstown Quoit Club and the National Rifle Association. Dale loved hunting, fishing, and camping, introducing his children to these hobbies. He was a member of Goodwill U.M.C, Elverson. Dale is survived by his daughters Judy Jernegan of Birdsboro, PA, and Deborah Budd of Reading, PA; granddaughters Erika Panfile, Lynn Yocom, and Kim Jernegan; and great-grandchildren Kelsie, Anthony, and Rebekah. He was predeceased by half-sister Dorothy Ruhl of Battle Creek, MI and his son Dale V. Budd, Jr.
