Edna M. Gates, 78, formerly of Reading, died Nov. 15 at 12:34 p.m. in Reading Hospital.
She was taken to the hospital from Spruce Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, West Reading.
Her husband, Jesse I. Gates, died May 1, 2001.
Born in Alsace Township, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Stella (Wentzel) Gerhart.
Surviving is a daughter, Barbara E. (Gates) Mull, Reading; and three sons: Barry, Allen and Richard, all of Reading.
Other survivors include four sisters: Ruth (Gerhart) Mellon, Betty (Gerhart) Abbott and Arlene (Gerhart) Fair, all of Reading; and Fern (Gerhart) Patrick, Casper, Wyo.
There are also nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
Services will be private. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
