Edward Ocksrider
August 16, 1933 — February 14, 2011
Edward R. Ocksrider passed away, Monday February 14, 2011 at 1:25pm in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center where he had been a patient since January 26th. His loving companion June M. Burkert was by his side.
Born in Reading on August 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Edward E. and Alice M. (Sallada) Ocksrider. He was a 1952 graduate of Reading High School and an army veteran of the Korean War.
He was employed by the former W.R. Strunk Inc and Big A Auto Parts for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He attended West Lawn United Methodist Church.
Edward loved sports. For many years he held the high average in the Church Dart Ball League. He was also an avid bowler up until the time of his death. He loved basketball and was a fan of the Boston Celtics and avid football fan especially for the Indianapolis Colts.
He was the last of his immediate family and is survived by his partner June M. Burkert with whom he resided for 15 years.
Memorial Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
