Elizabeth Smith

Elizabeth Rose Smith, 96, of Shillington, passed away September 13, 2013 in ManorCare Health Services in Sinking Spring. She was born in Pottsville on September 15, 1916, a daughter of Herman and Philomena (Megann) Frank. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Reilly Twp. High School and the Empire Beauty School. She was employed by Jones Beauty Shop in Pottsville and later worked as a sales clerk at the former Pomeroys Department Store in Reading for 23 years. She was married for sixty-nine years to Howard A. Smith, Sr. who passed away in 2009. She is survived by son Howard and his wife Barbara Fitzhugh of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; son James of Reading; three granddaughters (Andrea Hunter, Megan Wagenmann and Cassia Smith); and and six great-grandchildren (Carter, Amelia, Juliet Hunter, and Evan, Hayden and Casey Wagenmann). She was preceded in death by brothers Herman, James, John, Paul, Raymond and sister, Mary Maley, and is survived by her brother Joseph A. Frank of Wilkes-Barre.
