George Beck, Jr

George F. Beck, Jr., 86, of Alsace Twp., passed away January 30, 2015 in Manor Care, Laureldale. He was the husband of Barbara (Becker) Beck who passed away in 2004. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George F. Sr. and Esther (Rhine) Beck. Mr. Beck was employed at the Reading Railroad for 10 years, in maintenance at Esther Knitting Mills for 10 years and was a shipper at Rockwell for 9 years. Among all of his working years, George was also a farmer, builder/carpenter and general contractor. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, hiking, biking and visiting with family and friends. Survivors include three sons: Clark A. Beck, Sr., companion of Celeste Thomas, Alsace Twp.; Terrence F. Beck, husband of Susan J. Beck, Leesport; Robin L. Beck, Sr., Alsace Twp., 3 step-children Eugene Mierzjewski, Debra Smith, Karen Hinks ; four grandchildren Clark Beck, Jr., Robin Beck, Jr., husband of Margie, Amanda Miller, wife of Michael, Katie Beck and 5 great-grandchildren, and 6 step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Dorothy, Virginia, LaRue and Lester. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
