George R. Sheaman, 85, of Bernville, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Reading Hospital, with his loving family by his side. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, George will be remembered for his steady hands, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
George is survived by his wife, Dawn A. (Noll) Sheaman; and predeceased by his first wife, Carol A. (Crofcheck) Sheaman. Born in Freeland on March 4, 1940, he was the son of the late George F. Sheaman & Hazel (VanHorn) Sheaman. He was a 1958 graduate of Foster Township High School, Freeland.
George was the father of Cynthia Kissling and husband Keith, Tracey York and husband Matthew, Matthew Sheaman and wife Christine, Georgei Sklenarik and husband Kevin, the late Bobbie Posta and husband Jim. He was also grandfather to Lindsay Ford and husband Justin, Taylor Kissling and wife Sarah, Michael Kissling and wife Julia, Chandra Darwin and husband Jonathan, Shane Swope, Ethan York, Zachary Sheaman, Zebadiah Sheaman, Ezekiel Sheaman, Trentin Posta, Gavin Posta, Ava Posta, Nicholas Sklenarik and Abigail Sklenarik. George also leaves behind thirteen great grandchildren, as well as many friends and extended family who were blessed to know him.
George spent his life working hard and living simply, finding joy in the outdoors and pride in a job well done. He was a skilled upholsterer by trade — a craftsman who believed in quality, patience, and earning your way through life. His work wasn’t just a career; it was a reflection of his character — dependable, honest, and built to last. George worked for over forty years as an upholsterer. He opened his own business, George’s Upholstery, and also worked for Wydra’s Upholstery. In addition, before retiring, he worked for the Department of Labor and Industry as a Bedding and Upholstery Inspector. When he wasn’t working, George could be found in nature, doing what he loved most: hunting, fishing, and spending time in the great outdoors.
Above all else, George cherished his family. He was a steady presence — the one who showed up, who worked hard, and who loved without condition. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the kind of quiet strength that never needed to be spoken.
Private services will be held to honor George’s life. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity or simply spend a quiet morning outdoors in his memory.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
