Gerald Palamara, 63, of Reading passed away Wednesday February 3, 2021 at his residence. Born in Montclair NJ, he was the son of Leo C. and Josephine (Scanniello) Palamara.
Along with his father, Mr. Palamara is survived by his daughter; Maria A. Palamara of Schwenksville PA. He is also survived by a grandson Aiden, his brother Steven of Oceanport NJ and his sister Jean of Greenville SC. He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother Leo Palamara. Gerald worked as disc jockey for many years and loved music.
Here is a portion of a letter Gerald wrote for his family that he wanted to share. “Please do not mourn my passing. Be assured I am resting, having exhausted every single day of my life living to its’ fullest. The life force within the shell you cremate will never pass. It will always be within each of you. I was always a difficult man to understand. Only those who were the closest knew my truest heart. Those of you who knew the heart, knew my deepest love and will always cherish the things we shared so intimately in that love. If you shed a tear at all, let it be a single, occasionally a tear of joy, in remembrance of a happy time we shared. It is not the physical being of me that you loved or that loved you. It is what we shared, what we did, what we could and did accomplish when we were together that you and I loved. Those things shall always remain with you, and with them, so shall I.” Mr. Palamara also wanted his daughter to know: “that there was never the briefest moment when my love for you was not foremost on my mind. The very happiest moment of my life was on stage, singing What a Wonderful World with you on my lap.”
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home 444 N. 9th Street Reading is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at: www.whelanschwartz.com.
