Helen Dornblaser

December 3, 1922 — April 22, 2014

Helen Snyder Dornblaser, 91, died on April 22, 2014. Born in Mohrsville, PA she was the daughter of the late M.Truman Snyder and Edna (Dunkleburger) Snyder. She was married to Arthur Dornblaser for 73 years. Helen remained active throughout her life. She most enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She was always interested in hearing about their lives and stories. Helen especially liked talking with children which was one of the reasons she had been successful teaching in the Berks County Intermediate Unit program. Helen enjoyed reading about history and nature. She and Arthur spent many days walking in local parks or driving to spot eagles as well as going to Hawk Mountain. She looked forward to going on trips with both of her sisters to see plays in New York City. In recent years she found great joy in writing stories chronicling her family history. Many were published in the "Berks History Review" and the Phoebe Berks "Writers" monthly manuscript. It always pleased her seeing how her stories would get people to share their similar memories with her. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Mt Penn. Surviving are her husband and two daughters: Julia, wife of Michael Ouellette, South Berwick ME; Sylvia, wife of Roger Baker, Malvern, PA; a sister Grace Snyder Miller, wife of Robert Miller, Centerport, PA. She was predeceased by sisters Emily S. Bernhart and Doris S. Bernheim, and a brother Herbert Snyder. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Rev. Dr. Jo Ann Deasy, Chicago, IL; James Deasy and wife Nicole, Oceanside, CA; Sandra Deasy Cherry and husband Josh, Brentwood, TN; Brian Ouellette, Fairfax, CA; William Ouellette and wife Kim, Petaluma, CA; Jeffrey Baker and wife Marci, Pleasant Valley, NY; Dr. Gregory Baker, Bloomington, IL; and Michael Baker and wife Jessica, Westminster, MD. Also eleven great-grandchildren.
