Obituary - Hyacinth Philomena Davis (September 6, 1935 - August 5, 2023)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Hyacinth Philomena Davis on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Reading Hospital. Surrounded by her loving God-given family, she peacefully journeyed to her heavenly home. She was 87 years old and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and cherished memories.

Hyacinth was born on September 6, 1935, in Bangalore, India, and was the daughter of the late Percival A. and Emma V. (Matthews) Snell. At the tender age of 13, she gave her life to Jesus Christ, setting the foundation for a life dedicated to serving God and others. Her passion for accounting led her to pursue and achieve a degree in the field. For three decades, she worked in the Accounts Department of the Reading Railways in India, demonstrating her dedication and expertise in her career. In 1983, she and her family migrated to the USA, where she continued to shine in her profession as an Auditor at CNA Insurance Company until her retirement in 2001.

Her marriage to Ronald M. Davis was a testament to their shared faith, bringing joy and love to each other's lives for an incredible 58 years. Hyacinth was not only a devoted wife but also a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her devotion to God and her family made her a Proverbs 31 woman, leaving a lasting impact on her loved ones.

Hyacinth will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Ronald M. Davis, and their children: Pastor Glenn Michael Davis, husband of Melissa M., Priscilla Ann Shollenberger, wife of Richard R. Jr., and Shane Maria Desmier, wife of Glenville C. She was a cherished grandmother to Tyler Shollenberger, Sabrina Smith, wife of Matthew, Katelyn Desmier, Caleb Desmier, Mercedes Davis, Emma Davis, and Adeline Davis. Additionally, she took great joy in being a great-grandmother to Savannah A. Smith.

A Funeral Service in memory of Hyacinth will be held at Spring Valley Church of God, located at 2727 Old Pricetown Road, Temple, PA 19560, on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Viewing will be held for family and friends at Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, situated at 444 North 9th Street, Reading, PA 19601, on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Additionally, there will be a visitation on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Spring Valley Church of God from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
