Jack Babb

Jack P. Babb, 89, of Shillington, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.  Born in Reading on March 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Albert and Florence (Houck) Babb.  Jack was the loving husband of Joan (Schrank) Babb, whom he married August 9, 1980.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Jack was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School and later received Engineering Training at Industrial Management Institute of Reading and Penn State Berks.

He was first employed for 14 years as a Draftsman by Sanders and Thomas Inc. in Pottstown then for 24 years by Gilbert Associates – Reading in their Quality Assurance/Quality Control Division.  While employed by Gilbert Associates, Jack worked Construction and Operation at many nuclear power plants including those at; Limerick, Peach Bottom, 7 years at Crystal River, Florida, 1 year at Vera Cruz, Mexico, and 4 years in Cape Town, South Africa.

Jack was an avid fisherman, hunter, and clay target shooter.  He was the past President of Cacoosing Gun Club since 1986.  Jack was also a member of Pike Township Sportsman’s Club.

In addition to his wife, Joan, Jack is survived by his daughters, Suzann M. Babb, wife of Fred of Watertown, MA and Judy D. Werner, wife of Art of Wilmington, DE.  He is preceded in death by his siblings, Albert Babb and Ann Sweimler.
