José L. Irizarry

José L. Irizarry Vargas, 85, of Reading, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, July 31, 2023. He was the loving husband to Eloina (Alicea) for over 67 years of marriage. Born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, José was the son of the late Maximino Irizarry and Cruz Vargas.

In addition to his wife Eloina, José is survived by his children, Ramon L. Irizarry, Lesvia Irizarry, Edwin Irizarry, Maria M. Rodriguez, Migdalia Irizarry, Aracelys Irizarry, and Madeline Mares. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. José is also survived by his siblings, Rosa Irizarry, and Elias Irizarry.

José is predeceased by his siblings, Maximino Irizarry, Idalina Irizarry, and Ramona Irizarry.

Funeral service for José will be held in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. 9^th Street, Reading, PA 19601 on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Friday, August 4, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM.
