Juana (Fuentes) Morales, 95, of Reading, PA, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 3, 2023. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico is was the daughter of the late Maria Santiago and Juan Fuentes. Juana was the wife of the late Francisco Morales and they were married for over 60 years. Juana was a long time member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Reading, where she was beloved and very active in her parish community, which included the Legion of Mary, The Cursillo, and Encuentro Matrimonial. She was involved in the church apostolate which visited the inmates at Berks County Prison and a part of the prayer committee of Hogar Crea. Juana was a very prayerful woman, devoted to The Virgin Mary, and always had her rosary in her hand. Her home was always open to family and friends, serving good food to all who visited and came hungry.
Juana is survived by her children, Gladys Seda, Mercedes Rojas, Eva Maria Toledo, Francisca Torres, Juanita Morales, Yolanda Ortiz, Ireberto Morales, and Sonia Santiago and a total of 137 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Rafael Fuentes, Angelica Betancourt, and Aida Torres. Juana is preceded in heaven by her daughters, Elsie Rojas and Emelyn Nestler and her siblings, Ernesto Rosado, Israel Fuentes, Rosa Galan, Teresa Centeno, and Edith Fuentes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 10:00 am in St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 322 S. 5th Street, Reading, PA 19602. Monsignor Thomas J. Orsulak to celebrate. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. Juana will be laid to rest at Laureldale Cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Mrs. Juana Morales to St. Peter’s School, 225 S. 5th Street, Reading, PA 19602.
