Martha Jane
Delk
Mar 13, 1948 — Aug 11, 2026
Exeter Township
Martha Delk,78, of Exeter Township, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Mildred and Robert Delk. She was the life partner of Cynthia Theodore, with whom she shared 24 wonderful years. Over the course of her lifetime, Martha resided in several locations, including North East, Maryland; Hudson, Iowa; and Hayward, California. Martha retired as a Line Clearance Supervisor for Lafayette Utility Systems in Lafayette, Louisiana, before moving to her home in Exeter Township.
Martha lived a life surrounded by the things she loved. She loved her trips to the casino and her Diet Coke. She had a great sense of humor, but could also be painfully honest sometimes, too. She was always chasing the perfect shot through her camera and finding endless inspiration in nature. To Martha, a camera was an extension of her spirit, preserving a piece of the divine for us to keep. Her love for animals brought better lives to her many cats and dogs, and she spent countless years helping to rehabilitate injured or orphaned wildlife. She believed in the power of words, and her poetry captured the quiet, unspoken emotions of the human heart—words that will stay with us forever. Gentle and selfless, she loved her family and friends with all her heart, and what a big heart it was. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, determination, and a reminder to cherish the simple joys and quiet beauty of life. She will be missed beyond words, but she will live on in our hearts until we meet again.
In addition to her life partner, Cynthia, she is survived by her two brothers, Robert Delk (and partner Joan Manross) of La Porte City, Iowa, and Paul Delk (and wife Vernice) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three nephews, Sean, Russell, and Travis (and wife Veldina) Delk; two grandnieces, Leila and Nadia; her extended family, including Thomas, Irena, Sydney, Carmelo, and Mason Theodore, and David and Patricia Yemm; and her close family friend, Linda Lipko. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her nephews Christopher(son of Paul and Vernice) and Wade Eric Delk (son of Robert Delk and Jeanne Montenier).
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
