Nancy Jane (Ash) Anderson
May 17, 1932 – October 3, 2025
Nancy Jane Anderson (née Ash), beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at The Manor at Market Square in Reading, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Pottstown, PA on May 17, 1932, the daughter of Dr. Samuel Russell Ash and Ruth Anne (Graeff) Ash of Boyertown, PA.
Nancy was the devoted wife of the late John Arthur Anderson , with whom she shared 42 wonderful years of marriage. Their story began at The Hill School, where Headmaster Ned Hall introduced them—believing they'd make a perfect pair—and he was right. Nancy became John's secretary, and soon after, his lifelong partner. Together they built a loving family and a life filled with laughter, hospitality, and service to their school community.
Nancy took great pride in her role as a faculty wife, graciously hosting faculty gatherings and helping with school events such as the Strawberry Festival. But her greatest joy was always her family. She was a devoted mother to four children:
• John (Sandy) William Vester , husband of Sarai Vester and father of Corinna Vester of Anaheim, CA;
• Dr. Samuel (Russ) Russell Ash Vester , husband of Petra Mochel Vester and father of Hannah Ruth Vester, Sarah Jane Vester, and Samuel Russell Ash Vester Jr. of Cincinnati, OH;
• John Arthur Anderson III of Cincinnati, OH; and
• Georgina (Gina) Anderson Curran, wife of Sean Derrick Curran and mother of Patrick Anderson Curran, Lucy Jane Curran, Molly Rose Curran, and Jack Arthur Curran of Wyomissing, PA.
Nancy cherished being "Mom" and "Grammy" more than anything else. She expressed her love through cooking, gardening, and creating a warm home where everyone felt cared for. After moving to Terrace Park, Ohio, she found great happiness living near her children and grandchildren—hosting after-school lunches, chatting with her neighbors, and filling her home with love, support and good food.
Following her husband's passing, Nancy returned to Pennsylvania to live with her daughter Gina and her family in Wyomissing, where she continued to share her warmth, humor, and gentle spirit. Her final years at in assisted living were filled with comfort, care, and companionship.
Nancy lived a long and beautiful life defined by love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice
