Steven Ammon Smith passed away on Monday, December 22nd, at home with his family.
Born in Newfoundland, Canada on April 12th 1955, he was the son of Robert F. and June V. (Hirneisen) Smith. Steve was a graduate of Wilson High School in West Lawn, PA and retired, last working as a Team Lead in the Harnessing Dept. At Schneider Electric in Leesport, Pa.
Steve had one great love in life, other than his daughters, and it was music. He grew up in a household radiating music, raised by a mother who was a classically trained singer and pianist. He played guitar, bass, and sang. Steve also played with several bands, including making music with his siblings and niece. Steve also acted as a music manager and producer, booking shows, and promoting local bands.
Steve was a very giving and empathetic person. He would give someone the shirt off of his back if they needed it. Steve also had a special place in his heart for the homeless. He would frequently give them food, money, and often assisted in finding them work.
Steve was a full-time single father to daughters, Stephanie (Brett) Boyer and Jennifer Stine (Rob McManes).
In addition to his daughters, Steve is survived by a sister, Luanne Smith of Springfield, WV, and a brother, Tracy Smith of Plano, TX. Grandchildren: Dane, Karter, McKenna, Gabe, Lilly, and Breanna. He was also an uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. He held his niece, Christi, especially close to his heart.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Patrick Smith, and a sister, Vicki Bocelle.
