Violet E. (Weir) Pichel, 85, Leesport, formerly of Reading, died July 30 at 8:01 p.m. in The Hawthorne Personal Care Home, Reading. Her husband, John W. Pichel, passed away Dec. 30, 1993.
Born in Reading on Sept. 17, 1920, Pichel was a daughter of the late David Weir and Millie (Miller) Visner.
She was employed for 44 years as a cough-drop packer by LudenA�a�a��s Inc., Reading, retiring in 1985.
Pichel, who resided with a granddaughter, Nicolette Downey, Leesport, also is survived by two other grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Judie (Pichel) Ford, on July 25, 1999.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Whelan-Schwartz Funeral Home Inc., 444 N. Ninth St., Reading, with Saryn Zeiner officiating. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Salem (Shalter's) Church Cemetery, Alsace Township.
