Walter John MacBrine Sr., 74, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on March 23, 1951, Walter grew up in Glenolden, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Darby Township High School. He began his career working at his father’s greenhouse, a family business that became a lifelong passion. Alongside his brother Charles, Walter co-managed the greenhouse after its move to Lyndell PA, where they continued serving the community with dedication until the mid-2000s.
Walter was a man of deep kindness, warmth, and humor. He had a love for the outdoors and spent countless joyful days boating at Raystown Lake and Turkey Point, and riding his motorcycle with his brother John and close friends. His stories, often centered around the greenhouse, family adventures, and camping trips—were legendary among those who knew and loved him. Whether around a bonfire or at a family gathering, Walter’s presence was a comforting and steady light.
He was a devoted son who lovingly cared for his parents in their later years, a loyal husband, a proud father, and an adoring grandfather.
Walter is survived by his wife, Diane L. MacBrine; his daughter Tina L. Robinson and son-in-law David Robinson; his son Walter J. MacBrine Jr. and daughter-in-law Jodel MacBrine; his cherished grandchildren Matthew, Jozy, and Ruthie MacBrine, and Gavin and Lucas Robinson. He is also survived by his brothers Charles R. MacBrine II and John E. MacBrine; sister-in-law Denise MacBrine; cousins Linda Lafferty, Larry Hoffman, and Richard Bowers; nieces Erin Wharton and Elizabeth MacBrine; nephew Charles MacBrine; and many other loving family members.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A private family service will be held to honor Walter’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his honor
