Barbara Emily Ash (Frederick), 89, of Reading passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the Hawthrone Home. She was the wife of Glenn O. Ash who passed away on August 13, 2006. Born in Reading, Barbara was the daughter of the late Paul Frederick and Alta (Weidner).

Barbara enjoyed many years as a participant in the Foster Grandparent Program where she found a great sense of belonging and importance. For the last 15 years of her life she was an enthusiastic part of the 13th and Union Elementary School family where she primarily helped with Pre-K and Kindergarten pupils. She also found herself at home as a proud charter member of the Community United Church of Christ.

Barbara is survived by her children, Marie Ellerby, Frederick Ash, and her grandchildren, Justin, Benjamin, and Lauren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marian Frederick, and her cousin, Janice Herzog.

In addition to her husband Glenn, Barbara is predeceased by her brother, Rodney Frederick.

In July, Barbara enjoyed the highlight of being visited by her grandson, Justin, and his wife, Marta who flew in from California. Barbara passed with the happy knowledge that a great-granddaughter is  expected in October.

A memorial service for Barbara will be held in September at a date to be announced.
