Eugene "Brud" Evans

September 22, 1936 — December 22, 2021

Exeter Township

Eugene “Brud” R. Evans, 85, formerly of Exeter Township, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, in the Manor at Market Square.  Born on September 22, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, he was an only child who was raised by his loving grandmother, Dorothy Evans.  When Eugene was old enough, he proudly joined the United States Army.  After the Army, Eugene worked as a Textile Mechanic for various companies, including Highland Knitting and Robert Bruce. Eugene retired after 35 years of service.

Eugene was the husband of Jean T. (Bounadonna) Evans and together they shared 53 years of marriage.  He was a humble man who loved to work.  Eugene was a great mechanic and an excellent carpenter who could make something out of nothing.  When he wasn’t working, Eugene would host cookouts for friends and family, tinker in his shop, or work on home improvement projects.  He took great pride in maintaining the landscaping around his home and working with his wife in their various flower gardens.

Eugene was infamous for his bad jokes and his contagious laugh made others smile and laugh with him. He was a lover of music and shared his wife’s affection for the dogs they lovingly cared for over their many years together.

In addition to his wife, Jean, Eugene is survived by his son, Gene R. Evans, husband of Amy of Boyertown.  Also, surviving are his two granddaughters, Sophia Evans and Amanda Mays.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home oversees arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.whelanschwartz.com.
