Gary George Pawling – dedicated husband, dad, grandfather, and proud veteran - passed away at 74 on December 30th, 2022, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center surrounded by family.  Son of the late George “Sonny” and Edna “Tess” (Davis) Pawling, Gary served in the United States Navy during the Tet Offensive of the Vietnam War.  He shared stories with any veterans he met while proudly wearing his Vietnam Veteran hat.  After working as a Maintenance Supervisor, he retired from MGS Trailers in Denver at 62.

Gary enjoyed spending time with family, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, tinkering, James Bond movies, classic TV shows, telling jokes, and tractor rides with the grandkids.  He faced life with a positive outlook despite the many obstacles he encountered and overcame.  He imparted his wit, wisdom, and sarcasm to his loving family.  Gary is survived by soulmate and wife of 49 years, Rhonda, their sons, Brian (Shannon) and Kerry (Holli), their grandchildren, Graceann, Hannah, Jamison, and Elizabeth, his brothers, Craig (Georgina) and Jeff (Janet), and their large extended family.

Inurnment will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.  Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 North 9th Street, Reading is handling arrangements and online condolences may be made at whelanschwartz.com.  In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project woundedwarriorproject.org, Paralyzed Veterans of America pva.org, K9s for Warriors k9sforwarriors.org, or any veteran-supporting charities.
