Sue Ann O’Buck, age 76, died peacefully surrounded by family on June 21, 2021 at her home in Sinking Spring, PA after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas O’Buck, her partner in life for over 53 years.

Sue Ann was born on August 13, 1944 in Liverpool, PA. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1962 and obtained an Associate Degree from Central Pennsylvania Business School. She was preceded in death by her parents Emmor Glenn Byers and Myrle Benson Byers Cooper and her aunt Suzie Serbieff.

In addition to her husband, Nick, Sue Ann is also survived by daughter Andrea (Rick) Salatino of Weirton, WV; daughters Michelle O’Buck and Maureen O’Buck of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters Emma and Kelly Salatino of Weirton, WV; sister Reba Myers of Dillsburg, PA; nieces Dawn (Eric) Smith of Dillsburg, PA; Melody (Tim) Sowers of Dillsburg, PA; Tina (Ken) Burkey of Mechanicsburg, PA; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

During their life together, Sue Ann and Nick lived in many places around the country. Sue Ann previously worked as a preschool teacher in multiple schools and held various secretarial roles with different companies. Most recently, before she retired, Sue Ann worked as a medical secretary at the Reading Hospital with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Protocol Office.

Besides spending time with her family and friends, Sue Ann had a passion for golfing, traveling, and she and Nick enjoyed many golf trips together over the years, including spending winter months each year in North Myrtle Beach, SC. She was also an accomplished sewer, an avid gardener with her love of daylilies, and an active member of her church. She was a published cook and coordinated the development of multiple cookbooks with various churches and schools in the towns where she lived over the years. Sue Ann volunteered her time in many ways, including with the American Red Cross and most recently with the Reading Hospital IRB Protocol Office.

For over 25 years she was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic organization that raises funds to allow women to continue in their education. Most recently she was an active member with Chapter CD, in Reading, PA, where she was a Past President, and Chapter AH in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was dearly loved, respected and admired by all her PEO sisters.

We invite you to join us for a Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Sue Ann that will be held on Saturday, August 14th, 10:00am, at the Lincoln Park Community United Methodist Church located at 1 Carlisle Ave, Reading, PA 19609.  Sue Ann touched many lives with her generosity and kindness. All who knew her will remember her as thoughtful, charitable, and selfless; she always put others wants and needs before her own.   • UPDATE 8/8: As a result, we will not be having light refreshments/snacks following the service.
  • Please note, there is no parking lot at the church; there is street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
  • There are steps to enter the church in the front entrance as well as a few steps after that to enter the church sanctuary. If anyone attending has difficulty with steps, there is an elevator/lift available. There is a driveway to a back entrance to the church located off Carlisle Avenue.
  • You may enter that back entrance and the elevator/lift is located directly to your left. Take the elevator/lift to the 2nd floor and you'll see the main entrance to the church sanctuary to your left
